Good idea tracking down those bending mistakes, I'm sure they were much cheaper.

Some guys have all the luck. I would like to know if those same flanges would work on my m103, Mercedes 300e in line 6. They look the same, if I remember correctly.

Y could you not have done all this two years ago when I bought my '84 318i!!!

Sounds pretty much like the engine of my pal Peter (thread here), except he uses Mahle pistons (for VW originally) and a Schrick 304 degree cam. He runs with an Elring head gasket and the stock head bolts, an old Haltech F3 fuel computer and 800 cc injectors with a modified distributor and a MSD 7 unit.
It has been this way for 7 summers of driving with 1.4-1.8 bar boost, he has never blown a head gasket. It's all in the tuning, he's very good.

He currently uses a Holset H2C but will try an HX50 the coming summer. He has gone through a TO4B but outright said it performed like crap compared to the larger H2C - which had better responsive, and the H2C is still not as modern as the HX series. A Schwitzer S81 was used previously, pretty good but there are better alternatives now.

              Hey Goodntight,

Man I never knew an M10 could make that much power. One of my E30's is an 85 318i with the M10. It seems like you know your way around this motors, do you have any advise how I can get some more power out of this thing. The body has no rust and I want to keep the engine an M10. I was thinking about switching to an M42 motor but after seeing your car, Im just hoping from some advise. Anybody else out there that have some good tips to tune my M10, I would greatly appreciate it.

              Thanks,
              Mike Uy

If you were going to do a motor swap, why would you swap to an M42? Atleast swap in a M20, if not an M/S50.

Why waste time on a m20 when you could go M30?

weight :stupid: not to mention the m42 is a great engine. But a m10 is also a great engine. I'll get you some info on improving your m10.
