my guess from an e21 H3 or 323i with Hartge valve cover89 E30 325is Lachs Silber - currently M20B31, M20B33 in the works, stroked to the hilt...

Thanks for the responses. I will check today for any Hartge stamps or numbering. Any ideas of where to start to see if the engine is salvageable. I'm guessing turn the crank to see if it is locked up as a first step.Comment

It's going to need a full rebuild if it's been outside of any period of time. If it's a Hartge modified head it may be worth working on, but the cam is probably a write off. See if it has any other Hartge marked parts such as the distributor or maybe the AFM if it's around somewhere. The transmission is probably a dogleg too if it's a Hartge package.Comment
