M20 Hartge Valve Cover clearance issues?

Has anyone encountered a similar problem when fitting a Hartge valve cover to an M20? Breather only just clears the Motronic injector harness leaving no room for the breather hose to go on

I’m thinking of taking the injector harness apart and clearancing the plastic where it won’t fit for the hose

Looks like it's made for an early M20, eta perhaps judging from the additional mounting holes for the brackets and flywheel sensors. The early engines don't have an injector harness cover but individual wiring connectors.

I think that cover should work on late cars from what I've seen through years. Does the injector harness rail actually block the port or the hose just has the wrong angle? Hard to see from your pics

Here is exactly the same cover with no issues? Maybe that aftermarket vent hose in an issue?

Barry is right. Hartge made early and late Hartge valve on m20’ and m30’s.

Yeah i’ve just seen a post on E30 Zone and seems as though i’ve got a prefacelift one - facelift had the provision pushed further into the valve cover to clear this issue.

Someone in the same situation posted this:

Think i’ll try sacrificing my injector harness plastic cover and see if i can make it fit - worst case i have a spare i can switch back to with the oem valve cover!
