    85 M20B27 Fuel Injectors

I had an injector leak fuel on the intake. I replaced all the O-rings, same one still leaks. Pulled it all apart again assuming I damaged the new O-ring...all good. Reassembled, still leaking, seems to be leaking at the bottom of the body of the injector??? I had an old set of injectors laying around that I installed. No leaks, but it's hard to start cold. I'm guessing the old injectors are leaking down when parked. After all, I replaced them for some reason several years ago.

Looking at our various parts suppliers there seems to be a brand "GB Remanufacturing" that most of the sites seem to carry with various core charges.

Any experience with "GB Remanufacturing" injectors?

I installed the "GB Remanufacturing" injectors and they seem fine. Maybe slightly shorter??? After installing and bolting the fuel rail in place, some of the injectors seemed low in the intake bore. I had lubed the o-rings and it took a little fiddling to get them to appear to be centered between the fuel rail and intake. Hindsight, I should have measured them and compared them to what I had, neither of which appear to be original from BMW. But the car feels much more responsive and smoother.

When I did the timing belt a few months back I had knocked one of the connectors off a fuel injector. Chased my tail on that issue for a few hours.

So, while I was at it with the fuel injectors, I decided to replace the plastic wire connectors on all the fuel injectors. All the electrical connectors were brittle and several had lost the wire retainer clip as the tabs had broken away. I decided to use new Bosh units which I have used on other connectors on the engine. Most of the connectors were so brittle a quick squeeze with a pair of pliers and they broke apart. A little Dremel finished the job. I then made sure the locking tabs on the wire connectors were bent properly and they clipped securely into the Bosh connectors. The original rubber boots were in great condition and surprisingly pliable.

I couldn't get my de-pining tool to release the tabs on the wires inside the plastic connector. I'm not sure if it was my tool, years of heat cycles or maybe the wire connectors are sealed somehow in the plastic. Therefore the brute force and ignorance method above.

    Time with tell!
