The issue resurfaced last night. I had came to the incorrect conclusion that it was the DME since it fired with a known-good DME, but when I bought one for myself instead of using a friend's temporarily, it didn't start until I twisted the harness/connector around a bit. It dawned on me that it was likely never the DME, so I plugged in my old one, twisted the harness around a bit, and it fired.
Now that I've pretty much confirmed that it's an intermittent continuity issue, I'm going to probe each critical pin on the connector and pierce probe each corresponding wire as close to the firewall as I can get and see if twisting affects the continuity.
