M20 oil prime after an oil change

How many of your prime your engine after the oil change ? I've noticed it's like 1-2 sec after a startup and before any reading on the pressure gauge. I'm thinking if I should enable "flood clrear" mode on Haltech for this. Basically, cranking with the gas pedal to the floor (100% on TPS) cuts off fuel injectors.

Yeah, I’ve noticed the same on my M20, takes a second for oil to hit the gauge right after startup. Personally, I just let it crank normally; 1-2 seconds of low pressure isn’t a big deal if the engine’s healthy.

Using flood clear on Haltech could work, but I’d be careful, cranking wide open does stress the starter and battery a bit. I’d reserve it for when the engine’s really flooded, not every oil change. Just make sure the oil’s fresh and the pump’s primed, and you’re usually fine.

i enable flood clear but never use it after an oil change. i wouldn't worry about it as the bearings are not dry

digger, do you have your ECU setup to prime fuel pump on IGN ON or only when cranking as Motronic e30? I got it setup to prime the fuel pump but obviously the system keeps the pressure and all I hear the return fuel gargling back to the fuel tank, not sure if its unnecessary strain on the pump/regulator as well.

yes, definitely prime the pump with ignition on (for a few seconds only) mine will not cold start nicely in winter without it. It doesn't add any significant strain on the system
