    excessive valve ticking, kinda loud

    Ok so I'm driving around town and I did a few rain doughnuts for shits and giggles
    well I start to hear the valves a little louder than usual a little after the event,
    I've already driven about 25 or so miles since I noticed it, and it's been a full day too, so I'm guessing nothing huge to the point of needing to pray but I'm a little worried

    I did a valve adjustment on friday so is there any common mistakes I could have done?

    what should I look for when I pop off the valve cover/

      I'll check a little later today, then if all's good set them tomorrow?

      any other possibilities? how common are broken rockers?
      say if I do have a broken rocker what could go wrong with that?

        pretty common, its happen to half of us one time or another

        if you have a boken rocker, it should be replaced ASAP. Your car will run on 5 cylinders, and in the mentime you should not drive it or at least disconnect the injector to prevent fuel wash/dilution.

          well mine runs just fine, and just as smooth as before,
          do I have to take the head off to replace the rocker?

            Depends on the location of the rocker. I broke two on the 6th cylinder and I managed to replace them without removing the head...it was a bitch pulling the rocker shafts out though. If its any other cylinder im pretty sure you'll have to pull the head. Definately inspect the other rockers while you're in there also! Good Luck

              check for stripped eccentric nuts.. they don't take a lot of torque and strip pretty easily.

              and double check your adjustments. it could be one or two came loose.

              basically open up the valve cover and have a look, it only takes about 5 minutes. ;)

              p.s. you do not need to remove the head to replace the rockers. you can do all 12 in the car.

                  undo the tension on all 12 rockers. they slide out pretty easy after that. you can use a flathead in the grooves where the "key" at the front of the head goes to get you started.

                    really? but is there enough space to pull the shafts out far enough for the rockers in the front of the engine to come out??

                      yes, either remove the radiator or jack up the front of the motor.

                            Checked the rockers, they aren't broken, I'm going to re-adjust them when the weather clears up

                              check to see if all the rocker holding clips in the right place, my pop off once, and it sounded like a broken rocker arm. They should be pretty tight, if they are lose they need to be replaced.
