    Mobil 1 1,000,000 mile test on 90 325iS

Back in the day, they strapped a new 325iS and ran it for 4 years at various speeds.
Thought you guys might enjoy this if you haven't heard about it.

    Pretty sweet lil gem.

Just shows its not miles that kill engines, its maintenance and neglect.

The engine videos arent of the m20... Cardinal interior in a Alpine car is sex. Very cool video, thanks for sharing...

            In 1990... nice.

Now they sell a lot of cracked syntec blends.

Cool. I bet same would happen if you ran it like that on Castrol GTX 20W-50 :)

I want to see this being tested on a GM vehicle or Ford or Chrysler. They need somethign to compare to, or else its kind of silly.

cool vid...I wanna a see a company put their oil in a car WITH 100k already on it and see how that is for the engine. That would be a deal breaker for me...

If you watched the vid on the site, the flv and swf files are already on your comp.

They note it had very little wear, but they had the car constantly running, very few dry/cold starts, no hot/cold weather, no stop and go traffic, no full throttle acceleration etc, very litle idleling etc. The engine would of lasted that long on any oil under those conditions, real life driving is a lot harder on the engine.

True. Most wear is on cold start and high RPM. They varied cruising speeds but that's not too hard on an engine. Still, having acceptable tolerances after 1,000,000 miles is pretty damn impressive and they stopped there. The car would have easily kept going. So the question is how many miles would you deduct IF they had cold starts, different weather, idling, stop/go. If the engine lasted 500K, that's pretty damn good. I'd be happy with 250K before I'd have to rebuild.
