    Seafoam results

So I Seafoamed my e30 this past friday after reading many pages on this forum about the different opinions of using seafoam. The majority of the responders pretty much swore by it and how it made a noticeable difference while others either said they didn't notice anything different. I figured what the hell and bought a can from Walmart.

I tapped into the fpr and sipped half a can of seafoam through there while putting the remaining half into my gas tank. Sorry no video on the white smoke it produced (my flip ultra camcorder came in later in the afternoon).

I followed the proper procedure and once all was completed, I felt a smoother acceleration and more responsive throttle. However it did not cure the lack of torque my car has been experiencing.

I had my valves adjusted a few weeks ago and my car became a lot quieter. However after seafoaming my car this is how it sounds now. It got a lot louder after using Seafoam. Thoughts? Ideas? My friend is going to take a look at my car next weekend and he said that it's possible that my valves got "bent" or something with the "rockers". I'll be doing an oil change tomorrow.

Seafoam probably knocked a bunch of gunk off the valves. (I didn't listen to the video.)

seafoam isn't going to bend valves. lol

      try readjusting them first..

however, have you ever done a compression test? I don't remember if you did or not.

sounds like the valves need adjusting maybe it just cleaned so much crap that they seat better now and have more slack

yeah i need to drop my car to my friend's place sometime this week so he can take a look at it. it actually sounds like what my car sounded when I first bought it before the valves were adjusted. I really hope that it's just the valves that needs to be readjusted. As far as the driveability i feel a little more zip to it. Seems to accelerate a little quicker but then again it may be mental.

I did do a compression test a couple weeks ago and after 4 turns all cylinders came out to about 155psi and 5 turns produced about 180psi.

I bet if you take a long screwdriver and put it to the injectors and listen with your ear you will find out those are all injectors.

you could have flat spots on your eccentrics so the adjustment didnt hold

^ that too, injectors are loud (at least mine are, it drive me nuts)

so only way to resolve injector noise is to replace them?

replace or get your current ones rebuilt. If they're stock 14# injectors currently but you aren't planning on going with a chip or something that requires 19# injectors, try to find a set of M50 "green top" injectors (17#). They have an improved spray pattern and seem to give a slight increase in power at high revs. Do the screwdriver trick to determine if the noise coming from the injectors or the valves.
