The fuel pump relay is controlled by the DME and only engaged when the DME see's timing data from a rotating engine. If you don't have spark and fuel pump operation when cranking over the engine the possibilities are;
No power to the DME
Bad main relay
Lack of timing reference data to the DME
Bad DME
If the fuel pump relay closes and the fuel relay is good but you don't see power to the pump there is a fault in the wiring.The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Get a Bentley it has an ECU diagram and a list of diagnostic tests to run using that connector. Use the ECU connector to do multiple jumps. That will tell you a whole lot about the wiring and the operation of the pump. It's pretty easy to do, you just need a jumper wire with a fuse and a multimeter.1987 E30 325is
