    Electrical problems

    Ok, my car decided to be a bitch with me lol, I fix one thing and another one brakes. I am having problems with the fuel pump, it has no power at all, I change the relay and still nothing, I tried another ECU I have and still nothing I checked all the sensors and nothing seems to be wrong and most of them were replaced. I need help plz, the car is 1988 325i convertible it's manual, if you need more info ask me, thanks[/FONT]

    my 90 325i had a small gauge wire going to the battery and the was the cause for no power at my pump. Check to see if you have something other than + or -

      The fuel pump relay is controlled by the DME and only engaged when the DME see's timing data from a rotating engine. If you don't have spark and fuel pump operation when cranking over the engine the possibilities are;

      No power to the DME
      Bad main relay
      Lack of timing reference data to the DME
      Bad DME

      If the fuel pump relay closes and the fuel relay is good but you don't see power to the pump there is a fault in the wiring.
      The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

        Have you jumped the relay to see if your fuel pump is working? Or are you just turning the key?

            Get a Bentley it has an ECU diagram and a list of diagnostic tests to run using that connector. Use the ECU connector to do multiple jumps. That will tell you a whole lot about the wiring and the operation of the pump. It's pretty easy to do, you just need a jumper wire with a fuse and a multimeter.
