    surging idle

160k, eta engine recently did valve adjustment, and replaced oil, coolant, timing belt, water pump.

after starting the car it slowly rev's up to 2k then drops down and starts bouncing between 1250-1750 as if I were blurping the throttle and won't stop bouncing up and down.

I found out that my icv was wired in improperly and I took it apart and re-did the connector. and it looked to be correct. But the problem was still the same.
I've searched a bit and read that it can be the o2 sensor so I tried unplugging it but the result was the same.

I can't find any vac leaks to the carbon canister or any of the other common leaks.

    Any suggestions?

    Much appreciated.

check for vaccum leaks around the valve cover and breather tubes, since you had them off

/\ Spray some carb cleaner around those locations. its leaning out mostly likely.

also, leave you o2 unplugged, on eta's the limp mode is to run richer adding a tiny bit more power. but my bet is vacuum leak. does it do that when you drive?

My car started doing this exact same thing. The revs bound up & down in similar range when the engine is cold and flattens out and stops when warm. It's also running rich as I can smell gas fumes pretty bad if I'm in the garage.

I'm going to be doing a valve adjustment this weekend but should I be looking for somewhere else for a fix? My engine is running rough and have been since I bought it.

No, but I'm going to just before doing the valve adjustment. BTW, I've just received some new plugs today but I damn ordered the wrong ones. I ordered the WR9LS for the "e" instead of the W8LCR for the "i". Do I need to exchange/reorder or can I run these on my "i"? If I can't, I'll just pickup some NGK ZGR5A from the auto store instead of waiting for new shipment as I don't want to wait any longer.
