    What DME Is This?

I'm not sure what DME this is. This is from my 323i with a M20B25 swap and I'm trying to sort this out.

From what little I know on Motronic, this would lead me to believe this is a 380. Is that correct?

I was told this was chipped with a cam, so after removing the DME to verify, I'm not sure if it's a reflashed chip or what. So what DME is this? I was looking to get the Miller Performance MAF/chip, 19# injectors, etc.

Found this info for the DME:

    325i/is/iX
    E30
    M20/B25 (170hp)
    Bosch Motronic M1.3
    0 261 200 380

Can this still be used with the Miller MAF?

Probably should have searched a little more prior to this, but it seems like the 380 is an updated version of the 173 with more fault codes. Am I on the right path here?

        Link to list of ecu's

Yea as far as I know the Later # ecu's (post 173) had better idle control. As far as fault codes, I thought all 1.3's were the same, seems plausible though. Someone once said to me the 525&6 had a top speed limiter but i've never confirmed this.

it's post 153 that had better idle (more due to having one board, instead of dual boards and way more components to fail). 173-526 are all the same hardware wise, with very minor component revisions and small software updates.

but in any case the 380 should work fine with a miller MAF

Thanks for the info. Miller Performance confirmed: The 380 ECU is compatible. The 173, 380, 381 and 525 ECU's are all interchangeable so you would choose the 173 option.

^525 should be 524 (for posterity) My 524 automatic trans. ecu works with a chip that was made for a 173 manual.

there are 524, 525, and 526 ecus. It's not automatic specific - they came on california emissions cars.

This thread is almost 2 years old and about a DME. There was no need for you to bump it.
