I can get new T3/T4 turbo hybrid and a front mount intercooler for less than 1000 from a friend and a Apexi boost controller for 350 and a tial 46mm wastegate for next to nothing my friend will also bend the tubing for a custom turbo manifold and run the pipes for a FMIC. It is nice to have contacts.

so you are going to take out the Eta motor and simply swap in a 325i motor..? why not just get the head,Ecu, Intake mani, T/b...? and go that route? Another question, you mentioned that it would be a perfect comp ratio for a turbo but wondering what you meant by if the pistons can hold up? Do you think it would be smarter or more wise to simply scrap the whole eta motor and start with a m20b25? Thanks for the info... my plan or idea was to make a 327i with my eta block and the needed parts and then turbo...what do you think? Thanks again :D

I dont know what quality the stock pistons are they probably are aluminum or whatever, i would like to get some forged piston and get all the bolts replaced with ARP ones.

and the cheapest that I could find a 325i head for is 350. I can get the whole motor for 550.

yeah understandable, but after finding a good used head, you can pick up a ecu and the rest fo the components for cheap.... But i guess if you can pick up a good used motor for only $550 i would do the same and then just swap the Ecu....

jus for clarification, is it not possible to take an ETA crank w 2.5 rods & pistons, with and 'i' head and not have any clearance problems.? damn i'm confused ...

no. you'd need to deck the pistons (3mm?). if it were that easy, everyone would have a 2.7

To clarify even more, you cannot change the stroke (crank) of an engine without also changing the pistons or the rods or else the pistons will contact the head. Think about it.

ok ok, another -- if i take an ETA block, keep the ETA crank & rods, but put the 'i' pistons and head .. does this bolt up no problems..? ... let me know !!!!

that should physically work, but it would be very low compression.

well.. if the compression issue is 'i' pistons in a ETA head or ETA pistons in and 'i' head ... but these are 'i' pistons in an 'i' head on ETA rods & crank.. i would expect the same 8.8 as factory .. ? right ?

Eta rods are shorter then i rods.

eta crank, eta rods, and i pistons will be all over the place.

its just not a valid recipe.

stop thinking about building super halfass motors.

Some of you people need to realize that you can't just bolt a bunch of 15-20 year old parts together and have yourself a kickass engine. There are very precise tolerances within an engine that you MUST get right or else it will not last, it will burn oil, it will not make any power, etc. Just the measuring equipment necessary to properly build a motor can cost thousands of dollars.
