All the major parts for my 2.8l have arrived.

I should be bringing the block and rotating mass to the machine shop this week.

Block will be bored out 1mm (85mm) Magnafluxed, and decked.
Complete engine rotational mass will be fully balanced.

All new everything :) The pistons are 85mm 9.5:1 Forged JE's.

I live at home, although this is soon to change.

I work at a GM dealership, in the detailing department. I am responsible for the paint restoration on each and every used car traded in (cut and polish add nausea) I also deliver parts to bodyshops and other dealers as needed, and on occation shuttle the customers around while their cars are in the shop.

Aside from that see those banners up top? Those pay for the hosting and then some. Not nearly enough to compensate for the time I invest into the forum, but it helps.

Also I work on alot of e30's in Corvallis, my standard labor rate is $25/hr for that.

I'm curious as to why you went this route as opposed to an M/S50. What have the parts run you so far?

By that compression ratio I'm guessing that you're sticking NA?

          Yes NA.

I like the m20 for what it is... it belongs in the car. When all is said and done I will have about $2500 into the motor.

This includes all my previous headwork, and all the labor on the head/bottom end.

Not bad at all for what you'll have as an end product. Obviously it helps a whole lot to do the work yourself.

You might want to check with Fred on those Total Seal rings....he had some issues with them.

                Ok....1mm overbore: check.

What about the crank....Eta or TD?

With the compression you chose, a sport cam and some porting to the head, that ought to make for a smooth engine.

I'm glad everything is coming together! Our cars will be even more alike! I'm very curious to see how much power you will get out of it, my NA 2.8 was around 155whp, with small other mods... Anyway, can't wait to see it run, any plans to come to the next PacNW picnic?

                        Seems rather low, doesn't it?

The 2 valve per pot head is a real bottleneck....can't expect too much in the way of gains. Maybe with some kind of piggyback set up for the ECU or a MAF to squeeze out a few more BHPs.

Does seem a bit low. I saw a stock 325i with a MAF run 145 to the wheels.
