Well it started to poop out while I was driving...Gas could be smelt. I pop the hood. The fuel rail was just chilling there, the injectors all popped out, fuel just spraying onto the manifold... Dumb ass before me didn't screw it down. Is there a way to pop them back in without taking off the intake manifold? Also, the fuel rail hits the thermostat housing. Did this jack ass put it on backwards?

He quite possibly could have installed it backwards but its kinda hard to do that. The fuel rail is held down with two 10mm head bolts that thread into the intake manifold. You dont need to take the manifold off but you DO need to take the valve cover off to make things easier. The injectors should stay put without the bolts on the fuel rail but they wont stay put for long. You need those bolts to hold the rail in place.
I hope that helps

Okay. Thanks. I'll try that. The valve cover defiantly was in the way. Intake is mostly off... Time to put that back on. I'm much more familiar with the m50, this engine is...sort of confusing for me thank you for the tip! My mom keeps telling me the cars a POS and I keep telling her the previous owner is the pos lol. This kinda proves it.

Also my fuel rail has 4 10mm bolts holding it to the manifold, not 2.'87 325ic, powered by S50.

Take off the electrical plugs that plug into the injectors. You can now see that there are 4 bolts attaching the fuel rail to the intake manifold. Wipe some engine oil into the little o-rings at the end of the injector and pop the injectors back in the hole. Tighten the 4 10mm bolts and you should be good. You will probably be missing most of the bolts. It's a pretty snug fit so it doesn't have much play.
Sorry to bump this thread. I was looking for where to buy intake manifold gaskets and this came up.
