    Cams...

So i was window shopping cams today, for the m20, on IE, and was just wondering if some one could give me a run down on all the different cams, in terms of power, and actual drivability of the car.

from a 270, to a 304 (the biggest that i know of, for this car) what kinda power do i actually look to gain, assuming i'm going the N/A route.

Edit: Also, where does power typically peak out with these cams? is a custom chip, and bigger injectors pretty much a must?

If you want to make the cam worth the money and time spent installing it, then you are going to be getting into things like :
    -An adjustable cam gear
    -Port and polish work
    -Upgraded valve springs
-Increase compression ratio to match cam
-Possibly an M30 AFM / MAF conversion if this part of the system becomes the bottleneck.

I am not trying to discourage you in purchasing a cam, but in my high school days I thought I could just buy a cam, install it, and make some power. I wasn't able to do it the right way and do any head work etc, and I ended up being very disappointed with the time, cost, and effort of the whole project.

Might be something to consider. Hopefully people who have installed a cam-only on an M20 can offer some positive feedback on some great improvements that were had from it. But I do not see that being the case.

Not discouraged at all... i was planning on doing it as kinda a whole head rebuild project.
