I thought this was supposed to be like a place where one could appreciate someone else's projects or ideas.., however outragous they may seem.
I Don't know what part of this is so offensive. About the detonation issue, metric mechanic does some trick head work and on this special case piston work they have patented(its called surface turbulance) It allows you to rum much higher compression without or recuding detonation and aslo allows it to run on much less fuel. For instance, I didn't even have to change my injectors, just 9 psi more fuel pressure. It is also infact a legitamate 3.2, no fudging numbers there. The horsepower may not be quite what I claim, but I'd me lying to myself if I said it felt like it was any less. The 284 cam helps also with a few more ponies. Metric Mechanic backs me up on this one as well.

So wait wait wait. You are running stock injectors at 175% duty cycle and making 260hp?

If the cars not running lean, why give it more fuel? And whats with the name calling, grow up and maybe accept what someone else has acheived and learn from it instead of taking so much pride in thinking you know eveything.

You realize you know nothing right? Metric Mechanics built your motor, and you seem to have mildly grasped the concepts they discussed with you.

Stock I injectors run lean at 180hp or so. This is assuming brand new units, flowing as much as they can by design. That is at 100% duty cycle. You should never run a injector at or above its maximum duty cycle.

You are running yours at 175% + duty cycle.

You are just another idiot. As I said before, go somewhere else.

dude, I built my own motor as well as many others, they had the pistons made for me and they bult my head. It didn't make any sense to me that I should retain my stock injectors, but they told me to leave em and see how it ran. It runs great and notheing else is needed so let this one go my friend. ya, I think I am done here

you sir are an idiot until proven otherwise, and by the looks of things, you best show a dyno chart or forever be remembered as an idiot.

                  that is all

Hey, Sounds like a nice motor, but PLEASE dont do what everybody else does, and skimp out on engine management. You will gain horsepower and throttle response if you change engine management systems (with... say... Megasquirt, or even a piggyback unit like SMT-6). You NEED bigger injectors, why do they put 24lb/hr injectors in the M 3.2's? Get them so you dont burn up your motor, please.

By the way, 86mm bore is not too radical, the cylinder width is not really the problem, but the gasket thickness at that cyl width is the main concern. If you run a copper head gasket with an o-ringed block, you could get away with 86mm or maybe more (unlikely) reliably.

                      i thought m20b25 had ~170hp from factory?
so they are pretty much at there limit in stock form?

86 if often done in europe, probably with a copper gasket,
I tought I remember that the getting 3.2 out of a M20 was a issue on the account of the block being in the way of the crank,

the same way 3.5 M50´s blocks have to be thinned to allow the oversized crank to rotate

Also the injectors surtenly don´t go to 175% duty cycle with only 9psi(0,7bar) more fuel pressure

no crearance problems with the crank. I'm not going to try to further justify the injector issue, you all can say whatever sound logical. On my end, I have the fuel mixture dialed in perfect the way it is and I'm not going to change whats working great. I understand how injectors work and what should be needed considering the dispalcement and compression, I just give props to MM for their amazing head design that makes the burn way more efficient. Thats the only explanation for why it's working the way it is.

Props for doing something different for a change. It seems here most people ditch the M20 to get anything over 210hp. I was pretty impressed with how similar your 3.2 sounded to a S50 at the BMWCCA AutoX (i had the D'schwarz 5 lug 318)

Any more details on the set up would be appreciated (esp. a dyno chart), despite what you hear.

As for everyone else, take the info for what it's worth. It's not THAT outrageous of a claim. In my opinion, posts like these are much more interesting than threads about how much better a set of ebay'd Depos look on a 325. . .

Yeah, we need a dyno sheet proving this (a video would be nice too).

That kind of power N/A out of an m20 is just extremely hard to believe.

Lots of eta's on the butt dyno make 200 hp with just an intake, exhaust, and an ebay chip.

                                No, its not. Your "3.2" isn't a 3.2 either.
