    Wiped cam lobes?

I just pulled a head off a car yesterday in the wrecker since it appeared it was recently rebuilt, car had new hoses etc, Victor Rienz gaskets etc.

Well, apparently the car was overheated and the gasket let go, so there was slime/sludge oil/coolant mixture in the head.

Tonight, coated it in degreaser and pressure washed it took a closer look, and HOLY COW! the rocker arms wore a nice groove in the cam lobes. Will have to take pics and post them once the cam is out, but I guess someone either didn't know how to adjust the valves, or the coolant was running in the oil for some time.

Has anyone else come across this?

Guess it's a good thing that there's several good used cams laying on the shelf gere at the shop, eh? haha.

what about the oiling rail that goes over the top of the cam? dosnt that help keep the cam lubed to reduce friction on the lobes?
    :borg:

The oiling rail only helps if you have oil in your cranckase, not chocolate milkshake.

This is not my cam from my car, got it at the wreckers. I have a 300amp Miller Syncrowave, sure it can handle the duty, though, if it was really needed ;)

I have been using Delta for about 4 years for re-grinds on the v6's we build (Comp Cams for all the new grinds) and have saved up quite a few m20 cams to send to them. Last time I checked in with John, they didn't have any m20 cores and wanted a few to measure and see what kind of grinds are capable. I have a few t-shirts from them even for some larger orders haha.
