Getting those cams out is a pain, sometimes a rubber mallet works, but you have to be careful. Also if you are taking it completely apart, order some valve seals, cam seal, and valve guides. I had Motorsports parts co. do my head for $300, same place Griffin got his done.

You'll need to have the valve seats ground and the head checked for warp and possibly surfaced.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I forgot to mention that the cam should be checked for wear. It will usually suffice to check the list on each lobe with a dial indicator. If worn, but otherwise in good condition, a re-grind will bring the cam but to spec.

The usual reasons for rebuilding a head are to reduce oil consumption and deal with wear in the valve seats. The rebuild can also be part of the fix for a head gasket failure. Once the head is off it makes sense to rebuild it on a higher mileage (over 120k) engine while dealing with the head gasket problem.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

and to deck the head and use a thin head gasket to raise compression.

everything going in will be new. 272 cam, springs, rocker shafts, everything here are some pics. the first thing i did was pull the exhaust manis off. the firts pic was a nice half cut off stud i pulled without breaking. :D. than i pulled off the oil line on the top which took an 8 mil wrench. than i went ahead and pulled out the rocker shaft seals, and took a long extension and knocked out the rocker shafts.
