19lb injectors w/no chip. Yes or no?

I'll probably do this anyway for a month and send my stock injectors in to be rebuilt.. but I figured I would ask.

Any reason to run 19lb injectors on a stock ECM? Didn't know if it made much difference but the 19lb bosch injectors are easy to come by. I have just heard of some people having trouble running them on a stock ecm.

The ones I will probably grab are the 4 pintel bosch design II (yellow)

if you aren't chipped and dont plan to chip, dont waste the money. if you chip then go for it.

If you've already got the 19#'ers, a chip is cheaper than a set of injectors in good condition. Not like changing the chips out is open heart surgery; easier than changing RAM in a computer if you've ever done that.

Another option to consider is the M50 injectors (17lb). They can be found on the forums for pretty cheap, sent off to be rebuilt and then permanently swapped out for your stockers without any changes to your computer. They can handle a pretty big amount of HP and chipping them is always good for a kick in the pants.

I recently bought a car with 19 pounders and no chip.
It could not run in closed loop, and could not run when the increasing coolant temps registered by the CTS tell the DME to cut fuel. The DME cannot cut the fueling enough so the engine chokes on raw fuel.

Otherwise, the over fueling is killing the spark, and the excess liquid fuel is fouling the plugs and washing the oil off the bores.

M50 injectors are the WAY to go on these engines. I wish people with stock engines would stop putting 19lb injectors in.

Thank you MR 325.. I think I'm gonna go with a chip, 17.5lb injectors, full exhaust, and MAF swap until I gut the chassis at the end of the year to send it off for full resto :)

I also did it for several months with no problem (I also had an M30 AFM). Then I got a MarkD chip for 19lb injectors
As an FYI I installed an LC-1 in my car to monitor AFRs before and after swapping injectors and swapping the AFM. The car was still running mid to high 12's for the AFR at WOT near redline on the stock injectors, which for an n/a motor is still good. As mentioned, unless you're getting a chip there's really no need to upgrade the injectors.

Part # 0280150415 are direct fit.

Flow is around 16.6 LBS/HR, 166 CC/MIN at 3.0 BAR (stock E30 FPR)

18.1 LBS/HR, 190.2 CC/MIN at 3.5 BAR.

Just did m50 injectors in my stock m20... my god. made all the difference in the world. The engine runs like its 10 years old! ;)

I didn't experience any of the issues that people mentioned of the engine running rich or the car not recognizing the change- immediate improvement
