    throttle body abnormal?

    Noticed something fishy on my car on the weekend when I pulled the ICV for cleaning. This elbow was kind of loose (VACUUM LEAK!!!). Anybody know if there's a gasket or something for this?

    This guy decided to JB weld it shut.


    I can see the ribbed part on mine, I tried pushing it in more but wasn't sure what was normal.

    I have a vaccum leak like hesitating idle.

    Decided to chase down some idle issues and address a 1222 Motronic 1.+ fault code (Lamda Control 1) on my '90 iX (206,xxx miles). Propane and carb

      How did it come from the factory? It's supposed to rotate right?

          Wow thanks! I thought it was supposed to rotate to allow easier removal of the ICV, the real oem diagram didn't show any individual parts either.

            yeah, it just comes as part of the throttle body. you can't buy them seperately.

              That is a very common problem. The best fix I've found is to clean the nipple and socket with acetone or lacquer thinner and use JB weld to glue the elbows in. Allow the JB weld to harden overnight in 60F or warmer before running the engine.
              The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

                i cleaned both and used light coat of rtv, workd really good...+ it was easy to remove when i tore it down for a good bath.

                  Damn, I have RTV and loctite, but no JB weld. I think I need to re-seal the intake there's some oily shit around the intake manifold gasket and where the brake booster lines attach to the manifold.

                    i've used RTV on this issue in the past. easy fix.

                    i'll have to jb weld them in the future though. didnt know they came glued from factory.

                      They were just press fit and why it is knurled.

                        the ones in my stock TB definitely had some sort of epoxy/glue on them though. I think it just tends to get brittle over time so they start to move.
