i contacted the previous owner, and he said the engine had been rebuilt before he bought it. i'm guessing that where the piece dissapeared to.
i dont understand how the shafts stayed in place all this time though

the 3 valves were changed because they were bent when the timing belt broke.
i know that there were no other bent valves because i had the common sense to check all of them.
both rocker shafts were removed, and the key was *NOT* there when i disassembled the head.
the engine was run after the shaft spun around, but not for long enough to really damage anything.

this is my crash course in m20's

Oh my, I always wondered if the 24v version out out of a stealth would nestle in there too......

            Very cool!!

unfortunately, the DOHC won't just bolt in, or even come anywhere close to bolting in. the block is almost totally different, oil pans don't interchange, oil filter mounting is different, all accessory mounting points are different, and the trans bellhousing is different. not to mention that in the chrysler cars and vans the engine is turned around 180* versus the 3kgt/stealth/eclipse, etc
the DOHC heads don't bolt on to the SOHC block either, the oil and water jackets are different.

but hell, even a stock SOHC in chrysler's detuned 140hp form is fun if you can find the a543 5 speed. the 4 speed autotragic has decent gearing, but shit for reliability and strength, the a670 3 speed auto has shit gearing, but will hold a good deal of abuse. i purposely tried to kill the a670 in my van, but it just woulnt give up. the closest to giving up i got was a trans cooler line splitting and blowing all the fluid out, but it just dropped out of gear, and was perfectly fine when i bypassed the cooler and refilled it

a dohc 6g swap into anything chrysler/dodge or plymouth branded other than a stealth would be way too much work. a turbo setup is fun, but pricey and a pain, nobody makes parts for it lol
pistons from the 12v 6g72 in a diamante are a direct fit into the chrysler version of the motor, same with the cams. higher compression ratio, slightly more aggressive cam, but you lose the non interference greatness of the low compression chrysler pistons and cams

holy hell i just typed a book haha
