        the question has been answered. If you want to roll the dice and drive five miles with a fuel leak, go for it, but its obviously not the safest option.

                          Taking the gas tank out is easy.... if of course it's not rusty. Then it's a bitch. And you probably need to replace some parts while you're in there, like tank straps & rusted fasteners.

                                This. I drove a vw bus down the west coast with golf ball sized hole in the top the tank. Every time turned we left a shit load of gas poured out. You'll be fine.
