SETA Stroker Build - What to do about ECU?

I have a SETA and I've started sourcing parts to do the "I" swap. I currently have the "I" manifold/throttle body on the way, and just purchased 17# injectors. Still haven't decided what to do about a cam...either stock "I" or get it reground to 272 by IE.

A friend gave me his 173 ECU, and I'm not sure what to do about a chip. What are my options? Will a Mark D chip for 325i and 17# injectors work? Or should I get something customized?

Not sure if I can keep the SETA AFM either, do I need to swap to an "I"? I was going to keep it because they're both Motronic 1.1

I think you need the I AFM, but I'm not sure. compare part #s?

any chip will work fine. The engine will run normally. It just won't make the most of it's power potential.

Yeah, I wasn't sure about the AFM...I can get that.

Maybe I can talk to Mark D about a custom tune.

You need the AFM from an M20B25. I don't know if there is a chip specifically for that build. My first preference, if you want to get the most out of the motor, would be a MegaSquirt and my second choice would be a WAR chip.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Thought about a stand-alone, but I just thought it'd be easier to just chip the stock ECU...especially since I got one for free.

I'll def. get the "I" AFM, thanks guys. I think I need a TPS as well.

            TPS is the same.

What about fuel pressure regular? Doesn't the SETA have a 2.5 bar? I need a 3 right? I'm running 17 lbs. injectors.

                yes you need the FPR

17# E36 injectors are rated at 3.5 bars so on 3 bars you'll be closer to 15#

The e36 inj are a waste of time then if you have a 3.0bar FPR since the stock inj are 15.x# unless that's all you have

AFM needs to match the ecu.

                      they are 14.5#

even if they were the same size they are still an improvement due to being a 4 pintle design instead of an early single pintle.
