Please tell me you are kidding right?

Your asking for a whole lot of free hassle.

If you grind the camshaft base circle you will need to get either valve stem lash caps or oversized eccentrics to restore proper geometry.

Then to add to the problem, you will most likely grind through the hardening and will wipe out the cam in probably less then 1,500 miles if your lucky that it lasts that long.

If you want more performance, spend your money on a tune up, remove some weight from the car, rebuild your shifter, install some good brake pads, etc.

Home cam regrinding, really? I imagine some other members here will have some further words of wisdom to express on the subject.

You can buy reground cams. People will tell you they suck but they're basing their information about what somebody else on the internet told them. I have REAL LIFE experience with 4 M20 engines and 1 M30 engine with a reground cam in them and it's great. Not one of them has needed oversize eccentrics either.

                    Ireland Engineering sells them.

eh. I've had them too. They suck for various reasons. Reduced base circle, crappier rocker ratio, more likely to wear due to hardening, and most of them DO require eccentrics. for a budget build they can be fine, but I would never want one.

At least you don't have to buy 2 cams for DOH:-) Do it right the fist time or spend the money twice. I don't think m20 cams are that expensive. 366?????????? Really??

                            This is true.
Good for a little extra oomph on a budget.
