    SuperEta 528e motor with '90 325i head?

    A guy I know has a motor in his E30 from a 1988 528E. This is a super eta, right?

    He just broke a timing belt and the head is kinda messed up. Can he use a head from a 90 325i on that block without valve clearance issues?

    Yes, and it would be an upgrade. The head is the same but the 325i cam is more aggressive. It also has double valve springs. He should also change the computer over to one from a 325i and get the injectors/fpr/intake manifold/afm as well. Ultimately, it should be tuned for the new 2.7 i configuration but it'll run just fine just installing the i parts.

      The aggresive cam wont cause clearance issues? I looked at his messed up S-eta head and it looks like the valves go past the head deck when opened, so the engine must already have reliefed pistons.

      And his Dme is gonna be the 153 version? and he should install a 173? I have a 173 i could sell him, but ive heard the Eprom from the I dme can be installed into the E dme

        Not at all with dual valve springs and yes the pistons have slight pockets for the valves but they'll still bend valves if the belt breaks. Super ETA DME is 154. I once installed an i chip in a 154 and it didn't work. I don't know if the chip was good though. 173,380, etc would be fine.

          FWIW you can put the 90 b25 head on there an change nothing else and it will be fine. Of course if you want to take advantage of the cam and dual valve springs and all the rest then change over to the 'i' intake, fuel and DME.
