    C191 connector - Check it!!!

C191 - big round connector under the intake manifold.

Check it for corroded terminals or broken wires. Should easily twist apart.

If going bad or corroded, it can cause many intermittent problems such as split second cut-outs, bad idling, and hard starting.

Mine was completely locked together and I had to cut it out and put in bullet connectors. I had to saw the connector in half on the bench before it released its rusty grip, it should have been an easy twist.

If you already know about the C191, please go smear so dielectric grease on it right now.

If you don't know about it, check it out, it may be causing your idle/rev/start problems!!!

Just thought I would post this because I couldn't believe how many issues servicing the C191 solved for me.

i found some corrosion in mine when i did a head rebuild and everything was apart, cleaned it up and slapped some dielectric grease, its all good,

I would reccomend to anyone to check all the connectors and clean them up as you can, the chances of cleaning up your connections would in most cases apart from the dreaded vacum leaks, cure most anoying intermittant bullshit happenings with the way things run.

good point to bring up tim88325is

Should be i's for sure, since iS is almost exactly the same. I would check realoem for etas, I really don't know.

Yeah, I didn't think a simple connection could cause such flaky problems. I always thought a connection issue like the C191 would fail completely, not necessarily cause random issues from day to day.

I had intermittent hard starting and some idle issues that started a few weeks ago and became gradually worse. All were cured with the C191 replacement, it was so corroded that I broke half the rotten connections trying to twist it apart and couldn't turn back, the spark plugs were bone dry after trying to start. Be prepared to at least bullet the connections together if start in on it.

Some dont have have it. I have an 87iS and the injector harness is integrated into the main harness and has soft lines not a rail harness going to the injectors. No C191 connector
