    Schrick

I'm building a 2.8 stroker and have come to the point of choosing a cam.
I don't want anything ridiculous, because it will be my daily drive.
I have narrowed it down too the 272 degree Schrick Camshaft
and the Cat cams 264 Degree camshaft

Is anyone running either of these and can give me feedback.

    I have a 2.8 m20 with 9.8CR and I am running a reground 280 cam and I love it. I didn't have to run bigger eccentrics either.

Shit why not just grind the cam yourself with a grinder?

The 264 is practically stock. Go with a 272 bare minimum but as mentioned by Myster-e something around 280 would be beneficial to a 2.8L.

Go with a 280. The 272 is pretty tame. I wouldn't even bother with the 264...

yeah, 264 is stock for a 323i. So that's not even worth the money. In my experience 272 is pretty mild, 284 would be my choice.

Ive been watching vids of the 272 idle and it sounds like a fucking tractor is that because they didn't increase idle speed.

the catcam 264 is not practically like stock, the 264 is the advertised duration which means little. The 264 is 227@1mm+cl and the stock M20 cams are around 215. The schrick 288 is about 242 so the catcam 264 is pretty much the same as a 272ish schrick duration, lift is similar aswell as asi lift at TDC only the LSA differs by 2 degrees........

Have a look at dbilas they have some more variants in the 270-280 range which offer different LSA and lifts

What CR will you run and what are the specs of the engine?

2.8 CR 10.5:1 and just trying to choose the right cam. the 272 is looking the goods.

So the 272 will be fine to drive in town and i won't lose much low down torque.

should be fine from that perspective, could even get 284 with that much compression and might be less prone to needing 93
