Has anyone purchased refurbished fuel injectors?

So a couple weeks ago I brought my 325ix to a local bmw shop (MDMotorwerke in South Jersey) for a rough idle problem and the culprit ended up being my fuel filter breaking internally. The mechanic told me since my fuel filter broke, I now have decent sized dirt in my injectors causing the car to idle rough when i'm stopped. The car runs fine when i'm driving at any speed but when I'm stopped the car's idle is really rough.

Now, I've been doing some shopping around for injectors and am finding that they range between $60-$85 new. I found this site http://www.fuelinjectorwhse.com. They rebuild OEM injectors and sell them for a fraction of the price of a new injector. Has anyone purchased injectors from this place? The injectors come with a warranty and the place seems pretty legit.

I'm not building a race car and I'm not looking to improve performance on this car 'fore this car is my DD. I'd just like this to be back to OEM spec. so I can daily drive the car with no problems.

Are rebuilt injectors frowned upon? Will refurb'd injectors last as long as new injectors? Saving the cash is a plus and I'm sure getting brand new injectors would be better...but am I safe getting the refurb'd ones?

Thanks in advance for the input!

I have sent several sets to Witchunter Performance, they clean and flow test injectors for $20 a piece. He's always very informative, quick turnaround, and includes new caps/o-rings (and of course replaces the filter). I have no attachment to the company or anything... just recommending. As long as the injector is still electrically functional (opens and closes as it should), I don't see any reason not to just have them serviced.

thanks for the reply...after taking a look around on that site it looks as though they clean, replace, and rebuild all the injectors with new filters,caps/o-rings then test them. the car is my daily so i don't really have the time remove the injectors, send them out, wait, then re-install. i wouldn't mind sending off the ones I have in the car now after I replace them with new/refurb'd ones though.

i was just wondering if people have purchased refurb'd injectors and have been successful. I would assume they'd function the way they're supposed to, I guess I'm just concerned with the life of them vs new ones.

            Dude clean them yourself,
I do it's not hard, you can pull them off late saturday night and have them cleaned and rebuild by lunch on sunday. (over night soke in chem-tool)
A good rebuild kit is about $11.
Unless you want flow match and all that jazz, but it's a good running DD other than Idle?
I see no real need to do all that..

I just got these on ebay from smokestackj. This is what he advertised:

All injectors are tested, ultrasonically cleaned, re-tested, and rebuilt with new filters, pintle caps and proper Design III pintle caps, not yellow Design II caps that have been cut down with a razor blade as these have a tendency to fall off. These are a direct drop-in, no modifications to fuel rail or wiring harness needed. Each injector has a lifetime, 100% satisfaction guarantee, with free replacement.

I'm stilling waiting for my multimeter so I can test the resistance. I'll let you know how it goes.

you have ultrasonic injector cleaning equipment?

how do you know they're clean when you're done? what is your test method?

the first set of injectors I had cleaned, 2 of them wouldn't even open prior to the service. I'm curious how you'd fix that in your garage with a can of brake cleaner (or how you would know, except your crappy running car).

I pulled 6 injectors from the yard, had them sent off for a rebuild and they are good as new. I've been told that they are good as new after a rebuild. Even sold the old ones on CL for $30. I believe he is going to do the same thing.

Come on guy it's not like it's open heart surgery.

                        This stuff is easy.
Nando, I do have an ultrasonic tank at my shop...

The rebuild kit gives you everything you need, all you need to provide
                        is a litte brain power.

Look this guys looking for a cheap way to fix a problem and all you "know it all's" who have obviously done this before??? Right???
are dashing it for him. It's not hard..
It's fools like you who "can't" that keep guy's like me who "can" in business, Really! Sorry my rant for the day I don't hate, Just rant...lol

Look the dudes car runs fine except at idle.
Why pay to have them sonic cleaned it could be just a clogged injector filter (they have them you know) shit his mech said his other filter fell apart inside. I'd put money on this!
Why flow test, It's a Stock/DDcar and we know it runs. Thats' alot of money this guy may not want or need to pay.

                        -------

Nando no love loss but this is not hard, you can cycle your injectors in your garage, got a 9volt battery???
Put your money back in your pocket and invest in some brain power.
It will save you a lot of headaches later, must suck getting bad injectors in the mail....

I'd think $100 for rebuilt/tested injectors is "cheap". it will still cost you $66+ just for the parts to "rebuild" an injector in your garage. Cleaning and testing is actually the cheapest part!

I'm curious what fluid you're going to run through an injector to test it with a 9v battery, and how you're going to pressurize it? gasoline? I sure hope not.

No dude. That's 11 buck for the kit. The kit rebuilds 8 injectors total.
And the 9volt part was my try at a witty example.
Really this isn't as hard as everybody makes it out to be. And you can cycle an injectoer with a 9volt.

of course you can cycle an injector with a battery. all that proves is it turns on and off. it doesn't tell you if the injector is leaking, if the pintle is stuck shut or open, if the fuel dribbles out the end, etc. etc.

while you're at it, when your CEL comes on just put some black tape over it. costs like 10 cents and does the same job! ;)
