    What MAF's are compatible?

Hi, My 90 325i needs a new MAF and I was wondering what I could use for that. Ive located a few local MAFs and was just wondering if a e28 MAF could work too. Is there a difference in early and late model MAFs?

first off.. you need an AFM. not a MAF. the difference is far more than just rearranging those 3 letters.

as long as the part numbers are the same, they'll swap out. obviously. you'd have to check the 528es to see if they are.

          Only a MAF from a M20B25 (2.5L M20 engine) will work. This was on 87+ E30s and 89 & 90 E34s.

^^^Do all 89+ e30's with the b25 have a MAF? I was under the impression that mine had a AFM. I've been thinking of buying the Miller MAF along with some other parts to increase power but if I already have a MAF that may not be necessary.

no E30 came with a MAF, and all B25 AFMs are the same.

a MAF by itself isn't going to increase power.

I thought that might have been a mistype. Thanks for the clarification. What is the benefit of getting a maf if there aren't any power gains?

There can be power gains, but usually not from JUST swapping out the AFM. Making the intake capable of higher flow means you have room to increase other things that DO give power gains without the intake holding you back.

Oh come on! There's gotta be some reason guys do this. Miller raves about doing this with their chip and how beneficial it is to letting the car breath better.
