    Adjustable Cam Gear / Doesn't fit - help

    Hi All,

    Got this from e-bay;

    Says fits all M20. They've apparently sold tonnes them no issue.

    This one, see photos.

    New Timing Belt with sprocket from 323i/731 head

    Same belt with new adjustable sprocket/cam gear

    Also been told that the 318i engines use same sprocket / cam gear... which confused me a little.

    Help please. I definitely have the right belt. Seems the teeth are too wide on the adjustable one.

    I have the same cam gear and a new belt ready for the next belt change. I have just tried the fitment as well and it appears to have the same problem as yours.

    Have to keep us updated if you find a solution.

      Ditch that China junk and leave it stock, seriously.

      Also, the 318 definitely does not use the same gear. They are not timing belt engines.

        I know what your saying. I have a schick cam in and I wanted to play around a bit with cam timing. Looks like the stock gear will stay on.

        I would rather do that than chance trying to stretch to appear to fit and then find it jumping teeth.

          If you use the stock one make sure to get one that is not stamped steel like that one.

            Good point, the one from the B25 is much nicer.

                    Thanks everyone, I will use a stock one for now and will spend the proper $$ on a good one later.

                    Cheers of the advice.

                    The comment re 318i engines confused the feck out of me. :|
