Help! I need a cheap fix for fuel pump ASAP

Just like the title says, my 87 IS's transfer pump is dead and I need an inexpensive fix ASAP. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Never heard of a transfer pump. But you can retro fit a Walbro 255 for pretty cheap

Mine has the dual pump setup. one in-tank (xfer pump, low pressure) and a high pressure one beside the tank. I would love to go to a single walbro but the one I had laying around has sprouted legs and I cant afford another right now.

Get a used pump from a salvage yard.

If you keep the tank above 3/4 the high pressure pump can usually self feed w/o the transfer pump.

I wish I could find a salvage yard nearby that had some e30's, I'd be all over it. Unfortunately I live in hillbillyville.

I've driven it a little without the xfer pump but it stutters and stalls if I'm not pretty gentle with the throttle, even with a full tank.

You can still run without a lift pump, sounds like your main pump is taking a shit...

You can use a 76 Chevy Vega fuel pump with a Airtex p/n fs30 fuel strainer. Just use 2 zip ties to secure it. I did this on my e30 a year ago. Still works perfect, and saved me about 100 bucks.

My Advance Auto had even had both instock. it was around $50 total.

lol I have another pump I could use but i'm not sure if it will over run the FPR. Its rated at 36 psi wide open. How much can the stock FPR deal with?
