I don't think the rocker should slide off...

How tight should they be on the shaft? I've got some that move a little, some not at all, and one that is sliding down the shaft.

I should think the keepers would not allow any movement...

    thanks.

the clips help stop the rockers sliding along the length of the rocker shaft....

The rockers will slide under the clips, but the clips keep the rockers over the valve stems.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

The rocker arm is sliding nearly off the valve stem, and really close to the cam lobe and the other rocker. If I allow that to continue, I'm going to wind up with a broken arm at some point.

          Is my clip bad?

And, why is it with some clips the rocker arm moves not at all, some some just a little bit (and obviously with the one, I can push it rocker and clip as an assembly...)?

They should all be one way or the other, no (i.e. all of them move just a bit or none of them move)?

            pics plz,
did your rocker shaft(s) move? are you missing the bracket that holds the shafts in place?

99% certain #6 is in place, but will get some pics tomorrow.

I "fixed" the issue a couple days earlier (i.e. slid the rocker - #1 intake - back over and repositioned the clip) but it's reoccurred - so maybe #6 is not there. However, if it were missing, wouldn't I have other rockers move also?

A couple others "wiggle" in the clip, but don't move.

either the clip is missing, or it's worn out. the rockers shouldn't be able to move appreciably.

also make sure the keyway (#6) that holds the shafts in place is present.

Pulled the valve cover today, and #5 intake was off it's rocker, so to speak. #1 intake, the previous culprit, was fine.

Turns out that a couple of my #12's were on wrong. Head was recently rebuilt, and when the machine shop put it back together they put a couple on "backwards".

Checked all 12 to see that the "knife edge" was in the slot on the rocker shaft, I don't anticipate any more issues (famous last words).

                    Thanks all!
