        That first picture would concern me. That's more than close enough to the edge to possibly damage the ring lands, but I'm willing the bet the piston is also out of round.

        The second little ding should be fine, but you might as well get a new set now thanks to the first one.

              How expensive is a piston to throw in there? Vs. possibly having to do the entire job again.

              OP, I would at the very least pull that piston out and inspect it very well. It just is not worth the risk to have that thing crack on you and possibly take out the head you are having repaired with pieces of piston.

              Seriously, how can anyone say for sure that it will be fine just from a picture? That piston is not just nicked, it got smashed.

                      I concur, piston material is most likely displaced. As well as the piston may have been weakened from the shock. I would be afraid to use it, might fail under high rev, pressure. Get rid of it and sleep without worriment.
