AN fitting sizes for stock oil cooler?

I went into a performance auto supply shop today that I go to a lot, and brought my stock m20 oil cooler along to see if I could find the right fittings. The guy at the counter who helped me out told me that it is some obscure thread and size and that i would have to go to a shop that specializes in hydraulics or something.
I know I have seen e30 using the stock oil cooler and AN fittings with braided hose. What size fittings do I need and can I get them from some one like summit?

I have gotten metric to AN adapters at autozone, they come in a small blister pack with about 6 assorted sizes (brass) If you know the thread specifics you can get them here.

Can anyone verify the size of the metric oil cooler fittings for me? 14mm x 1.5? Should I run -8an for the oil cooler line?

If you are using the stock cooler and oil filter adapter, why not just use rebuilt versions of the stock lines? There is no advantage to switching to the braided lines. Any good hydraulics shop can replace the rubber on the stock lines.

My race car has an oil cooler that accepts AN fittings. I had a shop make up new lines that had AN fitting on the cooler end and the OE fittings on the engine end using rubber hydraulic hose.

The oil cooler is not going into a e30...It is going into a 2002 and the lines need to be a different length. I dont want to spend $300 on a "racing" oil cooler set like the ones sold by Ireland Engineering and VAC.
I know I have seen an e30 running a stock oil cooler with custom lines out of the front of the grill like all the Japanese old school cars have so it must be possible.

yeah, I'd bring them the stock oil cooler lines, and have them re-make them longer.

jlevie, you actually gave me a really good idea for re-using the stock oil cooler with a different motor..

You will need an M22 female to AN-10 adapter for the stock E30 cooler. They are available from Orme Brothers, if you don't go to your local hydraulic shop.

So this is my solution after calling Orme Brothers and spending a lot of time on the internet searching for the right fittings. I ordered 2 m22 male to -10an fittings for the engine block, and a cheap ebay 13" oil cooler with -10an fittings.
That should do the trick.

I just whacked off the ends of the tubes and silver- soldered AN fittings on....

...amusingly, the solder's the expensive part of that equation these days.

But of course, you know you don't need an oil cooler, right?

Need and want are two different things :)
