I searched zddp additive and didn't see much.

Yeah I mean like buying standard 20W50 and adding the ZDDP. I wouldnt add it to Delvac or anything...

    This.

I use additive with conventional/low zinc synthetics, none with Mobil1 or Rotella. If a customer is partial to a specific oil, then I add the ZDDP since in the end, I am responsible for their vehicle. More ZDDP isn't better per say.

In my own car, I run GTX and ZDDP, just because I am old school and always have been partial to GTX (plus being a cheap at times and will buy in bulk when on sale, lol).

I have been looking into Liqui Moly for my new engine. Their 10W40 Leichtlauf has over 1300ppm of Zinc... me gusta

I didn't mean that 2000ppm of zinc is better for us than 1300. I meant that adding a little bit like an extra 150ppm would do no harm

so when i rebuilt my engine in dec 2010 i used a full bottle of zinc additive ran in only 100 miles. then used only Valvoline 15-40 full syn. when i pulled that head off jan 2012 there was still so much zinc left i was shocked, it looked like it had been painted on every part.
imo a little goes a very long way. 9k miles

I haven't used em. Like Jake, I use VR1. I have seen those commercials recently during "Powerblock" for various additives and they did get me thinking. Perhaps if I rebuild my engine I will use them from the get go, but my current M20 has over 250k on it, so I figure the damage is already done.

I don't add it to my oil.

I use VR1 20w50 in summer, which has a 1200PPM ZDDP content. And Rotella T6 15w-40 in winter, which because it's a 40W also has 1200PPM ZDDP content.

Both very solid oils, and cheap too.
