Sandwich adapter vs. distribution block for m20

    Hey guys,

Just wondering what is preferred for installing oil temp / oil pressure gauges for the m20? It looks like the oil filter sandwich adapter and the small oil distribution blocks are the 2 most popular options. Anyone know the pros and cons of each setup?

    Thanks in advance.

I have read on here that the blocks can leak, but I know a couple people that have them installed and have no issues with them. I'm not very familiar with sandwiches.

I just ordered my block and pressure gauge earlier this week.

Yeah, it seems like some people have been using Teflon tape before inserting the senders to cut down on leaks. Which block did you get if you don't mind me asking?

The best place for the oil temperature sensor is a place where oil will flow by the sensor. Welding a bug into the pan is one good solution. If the oil cooler thermostat has been modified for continuous flow placing the sensor in the return line to the block is the best place. A reasonable alternative to those is to drill and tap the oil filter adapter bolt.

For pressure, an adapter that goes where the oil pressure switch mounts is good. If using an electrical oil pressure gauge mount it on the engine or better yet the fender and run A/N SS hose from the adapter.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

Goto a local hydraulic shop and have them fab up a custom adapter/line to your pressure sender

Should be $35 ish, that is what I am doing. Only $5 more than buying an adapter, the SS line and A/N fittings/adapters

Also, if your sender has a 7psi contact, you can splice that into the stock sender's harness..

The pan itself is thick enough in places to thread and tap...
...which will tell you oil temp in the pan.

I whacked the stock sender and brazed on an AN-3 fitting for the pressure gauge.
