I just did a timing belt and water pump and replaced my battery. Car starts idles for a min then dies. Just wondering could it be because my intake boot has holes in it and falling apart?
Why doesn't it hold idle rev?

Okay cool. I think I'll just order a new boot. I need to make sure I pass smog.Comment

Check all your vacuum lines too.Comment

If you REALLY want to rule out all vacuum leaks perform a smoke test on the entire system.

Just did the same thing on my car, and now it idles liked its cammed. And I just replaced my intake boot. Anything besides vacum cause these cars to idle weird?Comment

There are possibilities other than intake leaks, but until a smoke test proves that there aren't any, assume that to be the cause. The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

make sure all ur sensors are hooked up to the right connectors, and take some either and start searching for intake leaks, my buddies e30 had the same issue, it was a bad throttle positioning sensor, maybe u got that connector crossed with another?????Comment

Verify crankshaft position sensor is there and plugged in and not loose.Owner - Bavarian Restoration

If your boot has holes in it, then you are getting un-metered air into your system. That's a recipe for a bad running motor. No E30 ClubOriginally posted by MrBurgundyAnyways, mustangs are gay and mini vans are faster than your car, you just have to deal with that.Comment
