Use felpro on my charger and have never had issues.

What gaskets are you using? Head gasket or other items?

I have used Felpro for years, great head gasket kits, IMO. Just buttoned up a 2000 4.3 V6 Vortech, had every thing to finish the job from Valve seals to RTV black.

I just rebuilt my m20 and was trying to decide which gasket sets to get. I might give them a try.

I've never used them for BMW stuff but they do make quality gaskets.

I *believe* they're the same gaskets as Goetze (or at least they're owned by the same company). regardless, they're usually good stuff.

I use them all the time on Americans cars, Hondas, Subarus, Nissan etc in my shop. They are good quality gaskets, and are far superior to the OE gaskets on GMs.

I've never used them on a European car before. Your NAPA should have a Goetze kit locally available.

I work at napa but in Canada, I can't locate Goetze in the head gasket just in head bolts

                      weird instructions

TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS ARE SHOWN IN FOOT-POUNDS

                      2nd Step: wait 20 minutes

What is weird about about those instructions? The head bolts for an M20 head are torque-to-yield types. Likewise for the rod bolts.

You only want the torx head bolts and they (and the rod bolts) are one time use. To reduce the chance of wasting a set of bolts, when you re-install the head only bring them to initial torque until all of the engine is back together and the timing belt is on. If for any reason you need to remove the head before angle torquing the bolts they and the gasket can be reused.

Oh yeah, make sure both of the locating dowels are in place before installing the head.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
