    temperature sensor adapter?

Does anyone know who may make an adapter for an aftemarket temperature sensor to screw in? We are in the process of building a chump car and have removed the dash and installed aftermarket gauges (autometer I think) and the sensor for the temp gauge does not fit the factory location on the engine. I see several companies like IE offer an adapter that splices into a coolant hose, but these seem like they would give a less than accurate reading.

VDO does have a sensor with threads that will match those in the thermostat housing.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I found that a 1/2" to 3/8" adaptor would put the Autometer sender in a perfect spot-
all you have to do is drill and tap for 3/8" npt... and on the late engine, there's
just enough room on top of the tstat housing.
