    Valve adjustment with 272 cam?

Do my valves need to be adjusted differently with my 272 cam? I have them adjusted to what should be OE specks and there is a bit of ticking.

    Cheers.

did you do it on a cold motor and did you have the lobes at zero lift? Remember that with 272 duration you only have about 90 degrees of fully closed, so you gotta be careful.

and we're assuming proper weight oil, right?

I don't know shit about these motors, but do you have to modify oil passages or anything like that for a 272 cam?

Yes the oil is the right weight. I did the original valve adjustment cold after I bolted the head to the block with the lobes at zero lift. I just worked my way down the head rotating the cam from the crank shaft till there was no lift on the valve I was working on and adjusted it and then moved to the next one and did the same thing.

Found my loud ticking. First I adjusted my valves, which kind of needed it. Then I realized that the four bolts on my water pump pulley were hitting the metal coolant hose coupler that runs over it. All is well.
