Are my valves too loud ?

Well I pulled the valve cover off , to do a valve adjustment , I adjusted all the valves to spec for a cold engine , double checked and put the valve cover back on started the car and there's a clacking sound now , waited till the next mourning to readjust did the entire process over and this is the result

I'm thinking that that sound is really bad sorry about the bad video

And can't help you. I've sorta been wondering the same thing about mine. Gotta adjust them and see what happens

Yes their a bit noisy. Some of the "adjusters" somethimes get knocked flat, and then adjust themself off again. Loosen and turn them 90deg and check, costs almost nothing new.

Can I drive the car like this or should I just let it sit until I can get a new gasket to open the engine up again?

Dont have to change the cover gasket every time its off.
The more you drive with to mutch gap the faster they gets smacked flat.

For the record, since my english isnt to good, theese:

Yeah the little eccentric adjuster things on the end of the rocker arms , it just sucks because they used to be a lot quieter

using a thicker weight oil will quiet them down.

My opinion, they sound fine to me.
Our engines ticked out of the factory and they still should tick to a certain degree.

Noticed I used 'tick' and not 'clack'. Clack is bad.

They sound a little loud for a cold engine. Do they quiet down when the engine is at normal temperature? If not, I'd suspect they aren't adjusted correctly (too loose).

The best way to adjust the valves is by using a spring tool on the eccentrics (the BMW procedure). That removes any subjective judgement from the adjustment. And as a bonus it is much faster.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

The sound you hear is the rockers hitting the valves. Excess clearance between the eccentric and valve is the cause of that. But, even when correctly adjusted, worn valve guides, eccentrics, or rockers will cause more noise.

You can get the eccentric spring tool from BavAuto. With it you back off the eccentric, slip the feeler between the eccentric and valve, then use the tool to tighten the eccentric until you have a 45deg or more bend in the tool's spring and lock down the eccentric. There is no subjective judgement then in setting the clearance. A straight feeler gauge can result in excess clearance. You really need to use a bent gauge or one short enough that it will lay flat across the top of the valve. I use a single strip feeler (not part of a fold up set) that has been bent to an included angle of about 225deg.

I adjusted them to .25 because the car was cold from sitting over night
