    Removal of intake manifold....stuck?

    Have engine out if car, on engine stand.
    Removed all 12 bolts.
    I've done this twice before on other engine, and with a little effort came off effortlessly.

    Sucker won't budge. Am I missing something?

      Man, we hacked at it with crowbars and fat flathead screwdrivers and mallets.
      Broke the gasket on intake runners 1 and 6 but it's stuck on there good.

      Oh it's a IX engine...still a m20b25, but we all know they're redheaded style different....

        so you have removed the tube under the minifold that goes down to the crankcase? are there any visibly bent studs?

          It's unhooked, not removed. Nothing visibly bent.

          I'm beginning to think the po usedjb weld or some insane gasket maker to get this thing to stick on...

            by unhooked do you mean it is not touhing the intake manifold anymore because its spring loaded so even if you pull it down it will naturaly spring back up into its hole. and check on the gaskets you already damaged for traces of some sort of sealant

                The tube us dangling all slack. You're saying it has to be removed all together??? Didn't have to do that on previous engines....

                  just saying if you just pull it down the spring has a habbit of pushing it right back up into place, if you alread pulled it down its just a matter of pulling it up and out to have it off,

                        The oil return tube has to be pushed down to the point that it is no longer in the intake manifold for the intake to come off. But even if the tube isn't disengaged the intake will move some back off the head. It really sounds like some sort of glue was used between the intake and head. Try driving a putty knife between the intake and head at multiple places.

                            If he used "right stuff" gasket maker....you'll be working at it for a looong time. Damn thing is like glue.

                              Check to make sure the washers are also removed from the studs. Sometimes a washer can actually hold the manifold on, it's happened to me.
