    AFM Difference

I was about to replace my AFM when I discovered this. Everything else in the AFM is the same except for the connection to the airbox. Mine has four studs, the replacement has for screws that holds down male connector. I was trying to unscrew the four screws with the male connector but I was afraid that I would break it. Anyone recognize if this a for another model other than a 325i? Mine is an '88.

    Would appreciate your advice. Thanks!

P.S. Can't seem to post pics, only links??? Its not loading.

The male connector might be aftermarket. I would guess, that at one point the factory studs were taken off (I've never tried this), and when the male connector was installed the person used screws with the same thread as the old studs. Kind of weird if you ask me. I would have just kept the stubs on there and used the nuts to secure the connector.

Or is it M30? Any one with pics of an M30 AFM?

My guess is that it isn't an E30 AFM. Check the part numbers.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

That's an adapter for aftermarket cone filter.

The black cover has been changed so I don't trust the numbers on it, but everything inside out is the same. Do you think I can change the screws with the studs from my AFM?

The yellow air intake sensor would indicate it is from a eta. AFM's with black sensors are for 325i's. M30 AFM's are physically larger. M3 AFM's have a different internal spring so that would require verification of the part number.

Bernz was right, it has a after market cone adapter installed.
