I just found a broken rocker arm in my car as well...

I was worried about having more failures and glad you pointed out the valve adjustment point as I had not adjusted mine since I bought it 27k miles ago.

I did some quick math and figured a rough estimate of cycles of the valvetrain.

Assuming average speed of ~60 mph and ~3000rpm that equates to 3000 revolution/mile.

With a head at say a low 100k miles that equated to

3000*100,000*2 roations of the head for every rotation of the crank = 600,000,000 or a cycle life of 600 million just for the broken rocker. This could be way off if the rockers were never changed and could easily be closer to over a billion cycles. Looking at it that way is actually really impressive numbers for a rocker built 25 years ago...

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

you have it backwards, it's 1 rotation of the head for every 2 of the crank.
