Dinan chip with my 173 ECU. Will they work together?

Hey, just snagged a Dinan Chip out of a junkyard car reading D900-2531 and it is a Gen3. I wanted to know if this would work with my 173 ECU. My car is an '89 325i by the way. I've been looking around on a few forums but can't tell from what I've read. Help would be greatly appreciated!

A 90 car would not normally have a 153 or 173 DME. Check with Dinan to see if you can use that chip in a 173.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

you need to know what DME it came out of.

that said, Motronic 1.3 is Motronic 1.3 is Motronic 1.3. if it has the same # of pins, plug it in. you can't fry anything, but you may get a CEL if there's a checksum error.
