m20b25 with eta bottem end problems.

so here it goes its been a big head ache.first off i am a bmw certified tech and have many resorces and still cant get this right. i have a 90 325i that the block was broken from and early accident and was jb welded. decided to get a 2.7 block from a friends old car. i swapped this 2.7 with all the i stuff. the vehilce will run rough slash lose power at rpms 2k-2.5k then again at 3k-5k then rips to redline. we have swapped out the fallowing with a known good vehicle: cps, iacv, cts, spark plug wires, coil, cap/rotor, afm, e36 injectors, main relay, fuel pump relay, new fuel pump, new o2 sensor, new spark plugs. fuel presure is good and never drops from normal. smoke tested intake and no huge leaks just normal little leaks. checked timing and timing is ok. when driving the vehicle at 1/2 throttle and below vehicle drives ok but not supper great. when o2 sensor is unplugged the vehicle has more power, but still has the same dead spots not really missfires. if anyone has any thoughts it would be greatly appreaciated. thanks everyone and sorry for the mess of a story ahahah:D

Are you 100% sure the TPS, AFM, FPR, harness, DME, and spark plugs are correct for an i car?

As a BMW tech you should be aware of sensitivity of engine with EFI to intake leaks. I hope you fixed those small leaks as several small leaks add up to a major leak.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

yes the vehicle ran fine before the swap. It did hesitate a little but not as noticable as it is now.

yea i know that intake leaks are bad and i will be fixing them but it just doesn't seem like it is problem concerning the small leaks. almost feels like the ignition timing is going crazy. if you guys think i should fix those leaks i could do that just to be 100% sure.

its your timing, it either needs to be advanced or 1 tooth or the opposite way, remember, your timing will be off because you have a I head and a E block,

I'm wondering about the timing too, but not because of the I head and the E block

I was kind of wondering the same as well. I've read more than I should have about this combo and no one has said anything about jumping a tooth in advance. I was thinking that it couldn't hurt anything to try it.

Mating an I head to an E block does not require a change in cam timing.

after christmas i think i will recheck the timing. ive done many of these belts at the shop and at home. should i advance the cam timing one tooth and see how it goes?
