Some folks seem to have problems with the VR head gasket. I've used it on a number of engines and have yet to have a failure.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

just used it on my head job. Do not know how well it will hold as my car is still in non functional mode right now. It felt fine when i torqued it down to 21 ft lb. and 2 right angle. I am also using VR head gasket too with some copper spray.

+2. Head bolts and gasket have worked just fine for me.

my experience with victor HG's have been not that they blow but that like to ooze oil in the front side of the head. I have used them twice on two different m20's and the same result occured.

I have used Victor Reinz head-gaskets and head bolts on several cars without any issues.

Interesting, mine does the exact same... right at the front just under the distributor area. I thought maybe it was the valve cover seals but those seem fine. It really only leaks a very very small amount so I haven't given it much thought.

Goetz or OE. The BMW OE gasket is reportedly better.

the bolts are fine. don't like the headgaskets. mine went completely after about 30k, and always seeped oil and coolant.
