    154 seta ECU with 2.7i?

I have a 88 seta, this weekend I'm going to be doing a tb, Headgasket waterpump ect. While I have it apart I am thinking I might as well make it a 2.7i but I don't have any I car ECU's laying around, only sets 154's. Has anybody run the 154 with this setup? I know it should run but how well I don't know, I have stock and Dinan chipped 154's on hand but don't want to risk leaning it out untill I can grab a 153 or 173 ect.

I never ran my seta with the 154, had the 173 in when I bought it. But your car will have a low rev limiter and might run a little funky, make sure you upgrade the afm too!

The chipped ECU I have will let it rev to 6k (at least that's as high as I've pushed the single valve springs) so I'm not supper concerned about the rev limiter at the moment. I have everything else though, afm, head, intake, tb.

It will be run better with the 173, its tuned better for a 2.7i.

Did you change injectors? I've never seen a reliable source for what injectors the SETA came with, I just know they are different than I cars and E cars.

No one made a chip for the Super ETA 154 DME so I'm confused. This would be the first I've heard of it and I have the Dinan literature on my desk. Anyway, I wouldn't run the car on that DME. You can but it's not ideal. Don't run the super ETA injectors or FPR.

You know I have seen very few chips for the SETA, It could be a eBay knock off Dinan chip or something, I know Marc d made some, I'm going to check for myself though because there is a good possibility that the PO that thought the car was a 325i may have put an I car ECU and chip in it.

                  Edit
Well what do ya know i poped open the ECU cover to find a 153 just chilling there not bolted to its brackets. So that's why I can wrap my 6k tach...

Why is this? I have some m50 injectors with one broken pintel cap laying around but no I car fpr that I'm aware of, I'll have to look. What pressure does the seta and I cars run at and what are the injectors on my seta?

Look up strictly eta.com, its has some seta info on their fpr

ok from what i have been able to find, the SETA FPR is 2.5 Bar vs the 325i 3.0 bar FPR

im still digging for injector info as i keep getting conflicting info everywhere i look, but im thinking my SETA injectors may be sufficent at 3.0 bar vs the stock 2.5 bar.

edit found this info which seems pretty ligit but 12.75lbs seems pretty weak, i thought it would be higher like standard e cars

                        Stock SETA Injectors: 0 280 150 716 Bosch / OE: 13641466261 / Flow Rate: 12.75 / Impedance: High
                        Stock 2.5i Injectors: 0 280 150 715 Bosch / OE: 13641734776 / Flow Rate: 14.5 / Impedance: High
                        M50 Injectors: 0 280 150 415 Bosch / OE: 13641730060 / Flow Rate: 17.5 / Impedance: High

                        EDIT#2

so if the 12.75lb flow rating @2.5 bar is correct, by going to a 3 bar FPR it would flow 14lb, so still a little off the 14.5lb of the stock i injectors but probably ok to run.

however if i used the m50 injectors that are 17.5lb @ 3.0 bar with my SETA FPR they would flow 16lb @2.5 bar which should be perfectly fine as well but i think either one is within the range of the ECU's ability to compensate for.
so i guess it will just depend on what i can find tomorrow morning, a m50 injector pintel cap, or a 3.0 bar fpr.

and i thought i had all this shit i needed laying around... its always something

The standard Eta injectors are low impedance so their rating is different.

Do yourself a favor and install a set of M50 injectors and a 3 bar FPR. Trust me.

From what I have read the seta and I car injectors are the same impedance, unlike early e car injectors. I realize the m50 injectors are and improvement just based on the pintel design alone but the fact that they work on my system leads me to believe they are the same impedance as well.

Im going to try to get a pintel cap for my m50 injectors to run them, and attempt to find a 3.0 bar fpr as well. And if I can't find the fpr I need I'll just crush mine to make it a 3.0 bar.

the seta ECU is the same thing as a 153 with a different chip.

I'd use a 173, or later, and a custom chip. the 154/153 is a complicated 2-board setup and isn't very reliable.
